Who Will Find Shade and Ease on the Day of Judgment?

A Day Like 50,000 Years – Yet Easy for the Believer
📖 From the Qur’an
1. A Day Like 50,000 Years
Allah ﷻ says:
“The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.”
(Surah Al-Ma‘ārij 70:4)
This describes the intensity and length of the Day of Judgment for the disbelievers. It is not like the days of this world — it is unimaginably long and difficult.
2. For Believers, Allah Will Ease It
Allah also tells us:
“On the Day you see it, every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.”
(Surah Al-Ḥajj 22:2)
This shows how terrifying it is — but not equally for everyone. For the true believers, Allah’s mercy will make it different.
🌿 From Authentic Hadith
1. For the Believers, Like the Time of One Prayer
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“That Day (the Day of Judgment) will be made easy for the believer until it will be lighter upon him than an obligatory prayer he used to pray in the world.”
(Musnad Aḥmad, authenticated by Al-Albānī)
SubḥānAllāh — while for the disbelievers it is 50,000 years, for a believer it can feel like the short time of praying one salah.
2. Shade of Allah’s Throne
The Prophet ﷺ mentioned seven categories of people who will be shaded under Allah’s Throne when there is no shade except His:
A just ruler
A youth who grew up in worship of Allah
A person whose heart is attached to the masjid
Two people who love one another for the sake of Allah
A man who is invited to sin but resists saying “I fear Allah”
A person who gives charity secretly
A person who remembers Allah privately and sheds tears
(Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim)
This shade is one of the greatest comforts when others will suffer under the sun.
3. Those Who Remember Allah Frequently
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The bankrupt one from my Ummah is the one who comes on the Day of Judgment with prayer, fasting, and zakah but he insulted this one, slandered that one, unlawfully consumed the wealth of this one, shed the blood of that one, and beat that one. So his good deeds will be taken and given to them… and when his good deeds run out, their sins will be cast upon him, and he will be thrown into the Fire.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This shows that while faith will lighten the Day, our actions toward others matter greatly.
🌸 How to Make That Day Easy
Strengthen your faith – Believe in Allah, His Messenger ﷺ, and prepare with sincerity.
Increase good deeds – Prayer, fasting, Qur’an, sadaqah, helping others.
Avoid injustice – Do not wrong people in wealth, honor, or blood.
Remember Allah often – Dhikr will be a light on that Day.
Make du‘a – The Prophet ﷺ used to ask Allah:
“O Allah, make my reckoning easy.” (Musnad Ahmad)
🌿 Summary:
For the disbelievers, the Day of Judgment will be like 50,000 years (Qur’an 70:4).
For the true believers, Allah will make it feel as short as the time of one salah (Ahmad).
Those shaded by Allah’s Throne, or protected by their good deeds, will find peace while others suffer.
🤲 May Allah ﷻ make us among those whose Day is eased, who are shaded under His Throne, and who enter Paradise without hardship. Ameen.
