Bismillāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm

There is a secret worship between the servant and Allah that many people sleep through…

While the world is silent, some hearts wake up only for Allah.

This is Qiyāmul-Layl — the Night Prayer.

And among its greatest forms is Tahajjud.

The righteous people never saw Tahajjud as a burden.
They saw it as:

• a source of peace,

• a protection from sins,

• a private meeting with Allah,

• and the sweetness of this dunya before Jannah.

🌌 What is Tahajjud?

Tahajjud is the voluntary night prayer prayed after sleeping, during the last part of the night.

Allah praises those who leave their beds for His sake:

“They arise from their beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and hope…”
— Surah As-Sajdah 32:16

And Allah says:

“And during the night, pray Tahajjud as an extra act of worship for you. Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station.”
— Surah Al-Isrā’ 17:79

🤍 The Honor of the Believer

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The honor of a believer is his prayer at night.”

— Authentic Hadith: al-Mu‘jam al-Awsaṭ of Ṭabarānī, authenticated by Shaykh al-Albānī

Night prayer is not only for scholars or pious elders.

It is for:

• the sinner seeking forgiveness,

• the broken heart seeking comfort,

• the stressed person seeking peace,

• and the believer who wants closeness to Allah.

🌙 The Hidden Reward Only Allah Knows

Allah kept the reward of night prayer very special and hidden.

Allah says:

“No soul knows what joy has been hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do.”
— Surah As-Sajdah 32:17

Many scholars explained that this verse includes the people of Qiyāmul-Layl, because they hid their worship from people, so Allah hid their reward for them.

Just as they secretly stood before Allah at night…
Allah secretly prepared rewards beyond imagination.

😊 The People Whom Allah Smiles Upon

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned people whom Allah smiles upon.

One of them is:

“A man who leaves his bed and his spouse during the night to stand in prayer.”
— Musnad Aḥmad, authentic

Imagine this…

Everyone is asleep.
The bed is warm.
The spouse is beside you.
But the heart chooses Allah.

And when Allah smiles upon a servant, it is a sign of His mercy and pleasure.

🌟 Other people whom Allah smiles upon include:

1. A fighter who remains firm in battle for Allah’s sake

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned a person who stands firm courageously for truth and justice.

2. A group trapped in difficulty who continue remembering Allah and relying upon Him

Among them are people who remain patient and connected to Allah during hardship.

(Authentic narrations mention different categories whom Allah loves or smiles upon.)

🛡️ Tahajjud — A Shield Against Sin

Night prayer protects the heart.

When a person regularly stands

before Allah at night:

• sins begin to feel heavy,

• the heart becomes softer,

• the eyes avoid haram,

• and the soul becomes alive again.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Hold firmly to the night prayer, for it was the way of the righteous before you. It brings you closer to your Lord, prevents sin, expiates bad deeds, and repels sickness from the body.”
— Jāmi‘ at-Tirmidhī (Ḥasan)

SubhanAllah…

Tahajjud is not only worship.
It is protection.

🌧️ The Time Allah Calls His Servants

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Our Lord descends every night to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night and says: ‘Who is calling upon Me so I may answer him? Who is asking Me so I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness so I may forgive him?’” — and

This is one of the greatest moments in the entire day.

Not during business hours.
Not during daytime crowds.
But in the silent darkness before Fajr.

🌸 How to Taste the Sweetness of Tahajjud

Start simple.

• Sleep early.

• Make sincere intention.

• Wake up even for 2 raka‘ah.

• Speak to Allah honestly.

• Ask forgiveness.

• Make du‘ā’ for your family.

• Cry if the heart becomes soft.

Do not wait to become perfect before praying Tahajjud.

Tahajjud is often what helps a person become better.
