Rabbana Dua #1

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلۡ مِنَّآۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ

Rabbana taqabbal minnaa innaka Antas Samee’ul Aleem
“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”
– 2:127 –

A Du’a of Humility – Al-Baqarah 2:127

"Rabbana taqabbal minnaa innaka Antas Samee’ul Aleem"

“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Al-Baqarah 2:127)

This beautiful du’a was made by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him) and his son Prophet Ismail (Ishmael, peace be upon him) after completing one of the greatest acts of worship in history – building the Kaaba, the sacred House of Allah in Makkah.

Despite the magnitude of their achievement, their hearts were filled with humility. They didn’t rely on the greatness of the deed itself, but turned to Allah, asking Him to accept it. This teaches us a profound lesson: no matter how big or small our good deeds are, they only hold value if Allah accepts them.

The verse also reminds us of two of Allah’s beautiful attributes:

• As-Sami’ (The All-Hearing): Allah hears every word, every whisper, and every prayer.

• Al-‘Aleem (The All-Knowing): Allah knows the sincerity in our hearts and the intentions behind our actions.

Practical Lesson for Us:
We can recite this du’a whenever we complete a good deed — whether it’s giving charity, praying, helping someone, or any act of worship — as a way to ask Allah to accept it from us.
