📖 Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام): The Friend of Allah Who Never Stopped Trusting His Lord

"And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah... And Allah took Ibrahim as a close friend (Khalil)."
— Qur'an 4:125

🌿 Introduction

Among all the Prophets of Allah, Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام) holds a unique and honoured place.

Allah called him Khalilullah — The Close Friend of Allah.

His life was not easy.

He faced rejection from his own family, opposition from his people, a tyrant king, exile from his homeland, and some of the greatest tests ever given to any human being.

Yet through every trial, he remained firm in one belief:

"Allah is enough for me."

His story continues to inspire billions of Muslims around the world today.

🌟 A Boy Who Searched for the Truth

Long before he became a Prophet, Ibrahim (عليه السلام) lived among people who worshipped idols made of stone.

Many also worshipped the stars, moon, and sun.

Even his own father was known for making idols.

But Ibrahim (عليه السلام) asked a simple question:

How can something made by human hands become a god?

Allah guided his heart to the truth.

The Qur'an tells us how Ibrahim reflected upon the stars, moon and sun—not because he worshipped them, but to show his people that anything which rises and sets cannot be the true Lord.

Finally he declared:

"Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not among those who associate partners with Allah."

💬 Calling His Father with Kindness

Ibrahim (عليه السلام) loved his father and wanted to save him from shirk.

He spoke gently:

"O my father, why do you worship that which neither hears nor sees and cannot benefit you at all?"

He advised him with respect and wisdom.

Sadly, his father became angry and threatened to stone him.

Instead of responding harshly, Ibrahim (عليه السلام) replied:

"Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you."

This teaches us that we should always invite others to Islam with kindness, patience, and respect.

🪓 The Day the Idols Were Broken

One day, while the people had left for a festival, Ibrahim (عليه السلام) entered the temple.

He destroyed all the idols except the largest one and placed the axe beside it.

When the people returned, they demanded to know who had done this.

Ibrahim (عليه السلام) said:

"Ask the biggest one, if it can speak."

Immediately, they realised their idols could neither speak nor defend themselves.

Yet instead of accepting the truth, they became even more stubborn.

🔥 Allah Made the Fire Cool

The people decided to burn Ibrahim (عليه السلام).

They built an enormous fire and threw him into it.

But Allah commanded:

"O fire! Be coolness and safety upon Ibrahim."

The fire burned only the ropes.

It did not harm Allah's Prophet.

This became one of the greatest miracles in Islamic history.

👑 Ibrahim and the Proud King

A powerful king argued with Ibrahim (عليه السلام), claiming he too could give life and death.

Ibrahim (عليه السلام) calmly replied:

"Indeed, Allah brings the sun from the east, so bring it from the west."

The king had no answer.

Allah says:

"So the disbeliever was completely defeated."

🏜️ Leaving Hajar and Isma'il in the Desert

Years later, Allah commanded Ibrahim (عليه السلام) to leave his wife Hajar and baby Isma'il in a barren valley—the place that would later become Makkah.

When Hajar asked:

"Has Allah commanded you to do this?"

He answered yes.

She replied with complete trust:

"Then Allah will never abandon us."

Ibrahim then made a beautiful dua asking Allah to provide for his family and make people love that valley.

💧 The Miracle of Zamzam

When their water finished, Hajar ran between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times searching for help.

Allah sent Angel Jibril (عليه السلام).

The blessed well of Zamzam appeared beside baby Isma'il.

Today, millions of Muslims still drink from this miraculous water.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"May Allah have mercy on the mother of Isma'il..."

🐏 The Greatest Test

Many years later, Ibrahim (عليه السلام) saw in a dream that Allah commanded him to sacrifice his beloved son.

The dreams of Prophets are revelation.

When he told Isma'il (عليه السلام), his son replied:

"O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient."

Just as Ibrahim was about to carry out Allah's command, Allah stopped him.

A ram was sent as a substitute.

Allah declared:

"Indeed, this was the clear test."

This event is remembered every year during Eid al-Adha.

🕋 Building the Ka'bah

Allah later commanded Ibrahim (عليه السلام) and Isma'il (عليه السلام) to rebuild the Ka'bah.

As they built, they constantly made dua:

"Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."

They also prayed that Allah would send a Messenger from among their descendants.

Allah answered that dua centuries later by sending Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

🌎 Why Ibrahim (عليه السلام) Matters Today

Every year, Muslims remember Ibrahim (عليه السلام):

• 🕋 During Hajj.

• 🏃 By walking between Safa and Marwah.

• 💧 By drinking Zamzam.

• 🐏 By offering the Eid al-Adha sacrifice.

• 🪨 By stoning the pillars at Mina.

• 🤲 By following the religion of pure monotheism (Tawhid).

His legacy lives on in every generation.

❤️ Lessons from Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام)

✅ Put Allah before everything else.

✅ Speak the truth with wisdom and kindness.

✅ Never compromise Tawhid.

✅ Trust Allah even when you do not understand His plan.

✅ Be patient during every trial.

✅ Make sincere dua and rely upon Allah alone.

🌟 Final Reflection

The story of Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام) is not merely history.

It is a timeless lesson in faith, patience, sacrifice, and complete trust in Allah.

He gave up comfort, family, homeland, and even what he loved most—only to gain something far greater: the pleasure of Allah.

May Allah make us among those who follow the way of Ibrahim (عليه السلام), strengthen our Tawhid, accept our worship, and gather us with the Prophets in Jannatul Firdaus.
