🌾 One Seed, Endless Reward – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261)

📖 The Verse

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.”
(Al-Baqarah 2:261)

🔎 1. Context of This Verse

This verse comes in a passage where Allah encourages charity (ṣadaqah) and spending in His cause.

It teaches believers that giving wealth sincerely for Allah’s pleasure is not a loss, but an investment with multiplied return.

The early Muslim community in Madinah was being taught:

To support the poor and needy.
To strengthen the community.
To give sincerely without seeking praise.

Allah gives a beautiful agricultural example:

🌾 One seed is planted.
🌾 It grows into seven spikes (ears of grain).
🌾 Each spike contains 100 grains.
➜ That is 700 grains from just one seed.

This shows how a small act of charity can bring massive reward.

And Allah says:

“Allah multiplies for whom He wills.”

Meaning:

700 is not the limit.
The reward can be even more.
Allah knows your intention and effort.

Even a small donation can become huge in reward.
Sincerity matters more than the amount.
Allah’s reward system is beyond human calculation.

Any good cause done sincerely for Allah.

It is not just money — it can include effort, time, or resources.

Just as a farmer trusts the soil, a believer trusts Allah.

When you give:

You are planting a seed.
You may not see the result immediately.
But Allah guarantees growth.

Some rewards grow in this life. Some grow in the Hereafter. Some grow for generations.
