🌌 Surah Al-Ma‘ārij – The Ascending Stairways (70)

On the Day of Judgment…

  • No wealth, family, or friend can save you.

  • Hellfire awaits those who turn away and hoard.

  • But Paradise is for those who:
    🕌 Pray consistently
    💰 Give charity
    🤝 Keep promises
    🛡️ Guard their modesty
    📜 Bear true witness

Success is not in wealth, but in faith and righteous deeds.

Surah Al-Ma‘ārij | Mishary Rashid Alafasy

🔥 “On that Day, no wealth or family can save you…
Only faith and righteous deeds will.”

— Surah Al-Ma‘ārij (70)

✨ Paradise is for those who pray, give, and stay true.

📖 Summary of Surah Al-Ma‘ārij (The Ascending Stairways) – Chapter 70

Revealed in Makkah – 44 Verses

This surah paints a vivid picture of the Day of Judgment, warning the disbelievers who mockingly demand punishment, that it will surely come, and none can stop it.

🌌 Key Themes:

  1. The Inevitable Punishment

    • A questioner asks about the coming punishment.

    • It is certain for the disbelievers, decreed by Allah, the Owner of the ways of ascent.

    • Angels and the Spirit ascend to Him on a Day equal to 50,000 years.

  2. Scenes of the Day of Judgment

    • Sky turns like molten copper, mountains like wool.

    • No friend or family can help another; criminals would give away even their loved ones to escape punishment.

    • But nothing can save them from the blazing Hellfire.

  3. Human Nature & Weakness

    • Mankind is created anxious, impatient when struck with hardship, and withholding when blessed with good.

    • Exception: Those who pray regularly, give charity, believe in the Hereafter, fear Allah’s punishment, remain chaste, fulfill trusts, keep promises, bear true witness, and guard their prayers.

    • They will be honored in Paradise.

  4. Arrogance of Disbelievers

    • Disbelievers crowd around the Prophet ﷺ, mocking him, hoping to enter Paradise without faith.

    • Allah reminds them of their lowly origin and declares His power to replace them with better people.

  5. Final Warning

    • Let them indulge in vain talk and play, but the promised Day will arrive.

    • On that Day, they will rush out of graves like people running towards idols, unable to escape Allah’s decree.

🌿 Main Message:

Surah Al-Ma‘ārij warns of the certainty and nearness of the Day of Judgment, exposes the weakness of human greed, and highlights the qualities of true believers who will be honored in Paradise.

Takeaway:
True success lies not in wealth or family, but in faith, prayer, charity, chastity, and honesty—the traits that earn eternal honor in Jannah.
