Trusting Allah Against All Odds – Lessons from Musa (عليه السلام) and His Mother
On a dark night in Egypt, fear filled the home of the mother of Prophet Musa (عليه السلام). Soldiers were hunting Israelite babies. In her terror, Allah inspired her with two commands:
1️⃣ Nurse the baby quietly so he wouldn’t be discovered.
2️⃣ Then, a command that seemed impossible — cast him into the Nile, without fear or grief, with Allah’s promise that He would return him.
She obeyed — trembling but trusting. Soon after, Allah returned Musa safely, proving that His promises never fail.
💡 Key Lessons from Musa’s Story
1. The Unsung Hero – His Mother
The story begins not with Musa himself, but with the women in his life:
His mother, who trusted Allah beyond logic.
His sister, who followed him.
The women of Madyan and his wife, who shaped his journey.
👉 Their nurturing and faith laid the foundation for Musa’s mission.
2. Trust in Allah, No Matter the Odds
Years later, standing at the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind him, Musa (عليه السلام) remembered the lesson his mother lived:
“Indeed, my Lord is with me. He will guide me.”
(Al-Qur’an 26:62)
Just as she trusted Allah by the Nile, he trusted Allah by the sea.
3. Allah’s Training for Musa
At Mount Tuwā, Allah reminded Musa:
“Indeed, I am Allah. None has the right to be worshiped but Me. So establish prayer for My remembrance.” (20:14)
Musa was told to throw his staff, only to see it become a snake — a terrifying test.
The lesson? Stop relying on tools, wealth, or people. Rely only on Allah.
Even the “snakes” of our lives — debts, heartbreaks, oppression, loss — are reminders that Allah alone is in control.
4. From Fear to Courage
Musa (عليه السلام) was hesitant, scared, and doubted himself. But Allah reassured him:
“Do not fear. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.” (20:46)
His secret weapon was not armies or strategies, but the constant remembrance of Allah.

When we see oppression, genocide, or personal struggles, we may ask, “Where is Allah?”
The story of Musa reminds us:
Allah’s plans may take years or generations.
Trust is built in small acts of obedience.
Victory comes with patience, prayer, and unshakable trust in Allah.

Like Musa’s mother, we are often asked to “let go” of what we love most, to trust Allah with outcomes we cannot see.
Like Musa himself, we must face our “snakes” and rely not on the stick, but on the One who created it.
