The Greatest Trial on Earth: Understanding the Fitnah of Dajjāl
A Warning Every Muslim Must Hear Before It Is Too Late
From the moment Allah created Prophet Ādam عليه السلام, no trial on Earth has ever been as severe as the trial of the Dajjāl. This is not a story. This is not exaggeration. This is a warning directly from our beloved Prophet ﷺ.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“There is no fitnah from the creation of Ādam until the Day of Judgment greater than the fitnah of the Dajjāl.”
— Sahih Muslim
If there was ever a time to awaken our hearts, strengthen our īmān, and protect our families—it is now.
Who is Dajjāl?
The Dajjāl is a false messiah, a liar, a deceiver who will appear near the end of times. He will perform miracles, manipulate realities, and control people’s desires and fears.
His Physical Signs (Sahih Hadith)
All descriptions of Dajjāl come from authentic sources:
✔ He will be one-eyed
“Your Lord is not one-eyed, but the Dajjāl is blind in one eye.”
— Sahih Bukhari & Muslim
✔ The word كَافِر (Disbeliever) will be written on his forehead
“Every believer will read it, whether he knows how to read or not.”
— Sahih Muslim
✔ He will come with what looks like Paradise and Hell, but his Paradise is actually Hell.
— Sahih Muslim
✔ He will travel the entire world
Except Makkah and Madinah, which will be protected by angels.
— Sahih Bukhari
Where Will Dajjāl Appear?
The Prophet ﷺ said he will emerge from the East, from the direction of Khurasan (present-day Iran/Afghanistan region).
— Sunan Ibn Majah (Sahih)
A group of believers from that region will rise as the first to resist him.
Why Will So Many People Follow Him?
Because he will play with:
Human needs
Desires
Fear
Wealth
Security
He will command the sky to rain, the earth to grow, and he will control provisions.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“He will come with rivers and gardens, but what he brings will be deception.”
— Sahih Muslim
Millions will follow him — including people who once prayed, fasted, and believed—but whose hearts were weak.
How Can We Protect Ourselves?
The Prophet ﷺ clearly taught the strongest protection against Dajjāl.
1. Memorize the First 10 Verses of Surah Al-Kahf
“Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjāl.”
— Sahih Muslim
These ayat teach us:
The difference between Truth and Falsehood
The story of the youths who protected their faith
Courage to resist deception
Strength of Tawḥīd
2. Recite Surah Al-Kahf Every Friday
“Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him until the next Friday.”
— Sahih Hakim (Authentic)
3. Seek Protection in Every Salah
The Prophet ﷺ said at the end of the Tashahhud we should ask:
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the fitnah of life and death, and from the evil of the false Messiah (Dajjāl).”
— Sahih Muslim
4. Strengthen Īmān and Tawḥīd
Those who know Allah deeply, trust Allah fully, and live with sincerity—they will not be fooled.
The Final Events
When Dajjāl reaches his peak of power, causing destruction, fear, and deception—Allah will send the true Messiah, Prophet ʿĪsa (Jesus) عليه السلام.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“ʿĪsa ibn Maryam will descend ... and he will kill the Dajjāl at the gate of Ludd.”
— Sahih Muslim
This will mark the collapse of the greatest fitnah the world has ever witnessed.

It is one of the biggest warnings of our Ummah, mentioned repeatedly in sahih narrations so Muslims remain awake, aware, and prepared.
