A Self-Reflection Based on the Qur'an and Authentic Sunnah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

"Perhaps Allah is preparing you today for a responsibility tomorrow."

When Allah ﷻ chose Prophet Musa (ʿalayhis-salām) for one of the greatest missions in history—to confront Fir'awn—He did not send him immediately. Allah first prepared him through trials, learning, patience, hardship, and purification.

Likewise, if Allah intends goodness for a servant, He nurtures and prepares that servant before opening greater doors.

This is not a guarantee that every trial means a person is specially chosen. However, these qualities are clear signs of Allah's guidance and mercy, as established in the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.

🌱 1. You Have a Strong Desire to Learn Beneficial Knowledge

One of the greatest signs of Allah's goodness is that He opens your heart to seek authentic Islamic knowledge.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"When Allah intends good for someone, He gives him understanding of the religion."

Allah also commands:

"Say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'"

Qur'an: Surah Taha (20:114)

Reflection

Ask yourself:

• Do I enjoy learning the Qur'an?

• Do I seek authentic knowledge?

• Am I becoming closer to Allah through learning?

Knowledge is not merely information—it transforms the heart.

🤲 2. Your Commitment to Worship Continues to Increase

Allah prepares His servants by making worship beloved to them.

You begin to enjoy:

• Salah

• Qur'an recitation

• Dhikr

• Du'a

• Fasting

• Charity

Allah says:

"I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they worship Me."

Qur'an: Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:56)

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

"The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small."

Reflection

Consistency is more valuable than occasional intensity.

🤲 3. You Quickly Admit Your Mistakes and Seek Forgiveness

One beautiful sign of a living heart is that it feels remorse after sinning.

Instead of defending mistakes, a believer says:

Astaghfirullah.

Allah praises those who repent:

"Those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins..."

Qur'an: Surah Aal 'Imran (3:135)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent."

The Prophet ﷺ himself sought Allah's forgiveness abundantly.

He said:

"By Allah, I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day."

Reflection

A prepared servant is not sinless.

A prepared servant is quick to return to Allah.

🌧️ 4. Allah Gives You Patience During Difficult Times

Every Prophet was tested before being honoured.

Musa (ʿalayhis-salām) faced fear, exile, poverty and immense challenges before leading Bani Isra'il.

Allah says:

"Indeed, Allah is with the patient."

Qur'an: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:153)

And He says:

"Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure."

Qur'an: Surah Az-Zumar (39:10)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. No one is given a gift better and more comprehensive than patience."

Reflection

Patience is not weakness.

Patience is strength built upon trust in Allah.

❤️ 5. You Find Joy in Serving Others

One of the greatest qualities Allah develops in His servants is benefiting people.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Allah continues to help the servant as long as the servant helps his brother."

"The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people."

Service is not limited to wealth.

You can serve through:

• A smile

• Good advice

• Teaching

• Charity

• Helping family

• Supporting your community

• Making du'a for others

Every sincere act is an act of worship.

🌊 The Lesson from Musa (ʿalayhis-salām)

Allah prepared Musa long before appointing him as a Prophet.

He experienced:

• Separation from his mother

• Life in Fir'awn's palace

• Leaving Egypt

• Years as a shepherd

• Solitude

• Responsibility

• Patience

Only after this preparation did Allah speak to him and entrust him with a great mission.

Allah says:

"...Then I fashioned you for Myself."

Qur'an: Surah Taha (20:41)

This teaches us that Allah's preparation often comes before His promotion.

📋 A Personal Self-Assessment

Ask yourself honestly:

✅ Am I becoming more eager to seek Islamic knowledge?

✅ Is my worship improving?

✅ Do I admit my mistakes and repent quickly?

✅ Am I becoming more patient with Allah's decree?

✅ Do I genuinely enjoy serving others?

If these qualities are growing within you, then thank Allah and ask Him to keep you steadfast.

🌟 Final Reminder

Do not become proud if you notice these signs.

Rather, become more humble.

Every blessing comes only from Allah.

Continue seeking knowledge.

Continue worshipping.

Continue repenting.

Continue serving others.

Continue being patient.

Perhaps Allah is preparing you today for a responsibility you cannot yet imagine.

May Allah make us among His sincere servants, increase us in beneficial knowledge, strengthen us in worship, forgive our shortcomings, grant us beautiful patience, and allow us to benefit His creation for His sake alone.
