Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

๐Ÿ”น The Hadith

The Prophet ๏ทบ said:

โ€œWhen the food is served, and the prayer is established, then begin with the food.โ€

๐Ÿ”น Sources

  1. แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ al-Bukhฤrฤซ (Hadith no. 673, Kitฤb al-Adhฤn) Refferance

  2. Sunan Ibn Majah 934 Refferance

๐Ÿ”น Explanation by Scholars

  • The meaning is not to neglect แนฃalฤh, but to avoid praying while your heart is distracted by hunger and the presence of food.

  • Imฤm al-Nawawฤซ (Sharแธฅ แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ Muslim) explained: The wisdom is so the person can pray with full khushลซโ€˜ (concentration).

  • However, it applies when the food is already served and one is genuinely hungry. It is not recommended to purposely delay แนฃalฤh to cook or bring food.

๐ŸŒฟ Lesson

  • Donโ€™t pray while hungry with food in front of you.

  • Donโ€™t pray while holding back the urge to go to the toilet Refferance

  • Islam wants us to pray with khushลซโ€˜ (calm heart & focus).

๐Ÿ“– Reminder: True แนฃalฤh is not just standing and reciting, but being fully present before Allah.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What do you think โ€” do we sometimes rush into แนฃalฤh without preparing our mind and body first?
